Stratford District Council initiatives

Stratford-on-Avon District Council currently offer a wide range of funding initiatives that aim to make local communities more resilient to climate change.  These schemes are available to local councils, charities, community groups and more. Community Climate and Nature Fund

Funding Available: up to £10,000
Deadline: 12th October 2026

The Community Climate and Nature Fund is currently open for applications from local councils, charities and community groups, and aims to support a wide range of climate change initiatives. Past adaptation projects have included rainwater harvesting, sports pitch resurfacing, flood alleviation schemes, and so much more. Free Trees for Town and Parish Councils

Funding Available: up to £10,000
Deadline: 23rd November 2026

SDC are continuing to offer the Free Trees for Town and Parish Councils scheme throughout 2026! If you are a local council in Stratford District you can apply for funding for UK native species to be planted on your land. Applications of all sizes will be considered, and SDC have £50,000 available to fund these projects. Wilder Communities Project

Funding Available: No specified upper limit – please enquire for more details
Deadline: Rolling fund

SDC and WDC are both working with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust on The Wilder Communities Project. The project aims to enable local councils, charities and community groups to plant trees, hedges and wildflowers on publicly accessible land across South Warwickshire. Severn Trent Community Fund

Funding Available: £2,000 – £50,000
Deadline: Rolling fund

The Severn Trent Community Fund aims to support charities and community groups with over £2 million of funding per year. Almost all schemes would be eligible – please see this page for more information.

The CSW Communities Fund

Funding Available: up to £3,000
Deadline: Rolling fund

The Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire Communities Fund is a scheme run by the Heart of England Community Foundation. They offer grants for projects that meet one of the following aims:

• Promote health & wellbeing
• Tackling disadvantage
• Support local solutions to meet local needs
• Promote community cohesion
• Develop sustainable & supporting communities

The Nineveh Charitable Trust

Funding Available: up to £20,000
Deadline: Rolling fund

The Nineveh Charitable Trust supports a broad range of UK-based projects and activities of benefit to the General Public, with an emphasis on promoting better understanding of the countryside.

Eddie Stobart Sustainability Fund

Funding Available: Unspecified
Deadline: Rolling fund

The Stobart Sustainability Fund is open to community groups, educational facilities and small businesses with project ideas that aim to benefit their local environment. Fill in their short expression of interest form. Applicants are invited to specify the amount of funding their wish to apply for when they fill in the EOI form.

FCC Community Action Fund

Funding Available: £10,000 – £100,000
Deadline: 18th November 2026

The FCC Community Action Fund is available to local councils, charities and community groups who are looking to make improvements to their owned assets, such as village halls, nature reserves, and other publicly accessible spaces. Their full eligibility criteria can be found here.

Applicants must be located within 10 miles of an FCC landfill site, which you can check by clicking here. Most locations nearby to Alcester and Leamington Spa are within the radius of a site.

Woodland Trust Free Trees for Schools and Communities

Funding Available: unspecified: up to 420 trees
Deadline: Rolling fund

The Woodland Trust offer their Free Trees for Schools and Communities scheme to any educational establishment and all kinds of local authorities and not-for-profit community groups, including resident associations, sports clubs, and local councils.

IM Properties Stratford 46 Community Fund

Funding Available: £2,000 – £5,000
Deadline: October 2026

The IM Properties Stratford 46 Community Fund is available to charities, community groups, and CICs operating in Stratford-upon-Avon that are looking to deliver small scale projects that promote social and community cohesion, and/or support environmental initiatives, such as wildlife preservation and habitat creation. The Wildlife Trusts Green Community Grants Programme

Funding Available: up to £20,000
Deadline: 21st October 2026

The Wildlife Trusts Green Community Grants Programme offers one-year flexible funding for not-for-profit groups in England, Scotland and Wales with an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million. 

To be eligible for funding, you must have been operating for a minimum of 12 months and your organisation’s main aims and objectives must fit with one of the two funding themes:

1. Contributing to nature recovery and responding to the climate emergency
2. Improving nature-rich spaces and access to them
